Joan de Déu Prats
Before entering the world of children’s literature, he worked as a satirical journalist and television scriptwriter. He has published more than 70 books for children and young adults, as well as a travel book, “Terra de Castells” (Ed. Barcanova). He has been awarded several prizes, notably the prize for children’s literature, which he has won twice, presented by the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital in conjunction with La Galera publishers and Círculo de Lectores. He also won the competition for short stories held by the Cavall Fort magazine, the Serra d’Or for best children’s book of 2004 with "Cuentos de fantasmas" (Editorial Timun Mas) and was a finalist in the children’s and young adults literature competition by Barcanova with “Nàufrag”. For Joan de Déu Prats, “writing is like playing with words, and the aim is to help people dream, through imagination, because the only way to solve life’s challenges is with some imagination". With his agile style and stories brimming with fantasy, they are widely appreciated by his public. He has published in Catalan, Spanish, English, Basque, Galician, Italian and Chinese.
