Carmen Macedo
Carmen Macedo Figueroa was born in Seville in 1985. With a degree in Journalism, she has a professional career of more than fifteen years linked to communication. She is currently Marketing Director and runs numerous projects; a university lecturer and a PhD student in Communication.
She is passionate about words. If she has to choose a genre, whether to read or to write, it will always be crime and detective novels; a passion that led her to study Criminology and Creative Writing. In her writing she takes into account people, their speeches, what they transmit, what they teach.... But, above all, places. Those places that are magical enough to inspire words.
The first time she submitted something to a competition was a haiku. She hardly knew the rules when she wrote it. She didn't win it, but she was the first finalist and received the best critique she could get: some very mild humour. That's what she believes writing is all about: to subtly make you feel in every sentence.
