On the day of her 18^th birthday, Clara goes back to her home and finds a surprise gift she wasn’t expecting: all her things on the stairs’ landing. Her mothers kicks her out of the house; now that she’s old enough it’s time for her to make a living, go to art school or get by on her own.

Feeling hopeless, she looks for refuge with her father, a double bass player in the symphony orchestra who’s always travelling. Clara doesn’t seem to fit anywhere, until she finds a great opportunity: to work as a copyist in the History Academy to paint replicas of portraits of the Bondoror dynasty. When she accepts she doesn’t know to what extent she will be involved with the history of those paintings.
