She graduated with a degree in illustrated and graphic design from the Escuela Massana de Barcelona (Extraordinary Prize 2000).
She read a postgraduate in illustration and engraving at the École des Arts Déco (Strasburg) and another at the École des Beaux Arts (Marseille).
Since 2001 she has been collaborating with Spanish and foreign Publishing houses.
Her works are often published in magazines, newspapers and publications related to publishing and publicity in Spain, France, Australia, Singapore and Korea.
Mariona Cabassa has taken part in collective illustration and engraving exhibitions, as well as in various other projects related to comic books and animation.
In 2003 she received an award from the Asociación Profesional de Ilustradores de Catalunya (APIC) for her childrens illustration with the book Libro para contar mientras se come un huevo frito (Editorial Kalandraka).
In 2005 she was selected to participate in an exhibition and catalogue in Bologna, Ilustrísimos, dedicated to Spanish illustration, by the Asociación de Ilustradores and the Ministry of Culture. She was also invited to participate in the catalogue and exhibition of the 22a Mostra Internazionale dIllustrazione per lInfanzia by the Fondazione Cassamarca.
Currently she combines her work as an illustrator with her teaching at different arts and design schools in Barcelona.
